How I help
Most work starts in one of three ways. Whichever you choose, you stay in charge. I bring the structure, the outside view and the experience of having done it before.
Most work starts in one of three ways. Whichever you choose, you stay in charge. I bring the structure, the outside view and the experience of having done it before.
For when you're ready to step back and take a fresh look at the bigger picture: where the business is going, and a practical plan to reach it.
It's hard to see the road ahead from deep in the day-to-day. I help you and your team get your heads up, out of the weeds, to set a clear direction. Then I help you keep it moving, so the plan gets done and doesn't just sit in a drawer.
We work through four things
This is senior experience, right-sized for your business. I step in for a set number of days a month to run the business side alongside you: management meetings, reporting, people, suppliers and projects, focused on your highest priorities.
You get an experienced leader in the room for the days that matter, and keep your costs in line with the size of your business.
Fractional leadership is a great option when
The investments that shape your business, like a rebrand, a new system or new roles. Some are best done by your own people, some by outside providers, and many by a mix. I can lead the project, or back your team while they lead it.
You get an experienced pair of hands who understands how the project fits the bigger picture. That keeps it focused on what the business needs, so you end up with real results, not just a finished project.
How a project works
Whichever way we work together, this is what I'm looking at. I start with your customers and work back. Win the right customers, do more for them, and keep them coming back. Then make sure the business behind it can deliver.
More customers, more work, more often.
Who are your best customers, and how do you win more like them?
Services that are clear, well priced and worth coming back for.
Which work makes you money, and which just keeps you busy?
The skills you need, and whether to build, buy or borrow them.
Have you got the right people in the right roles?
Simple, repeatable ways of getting the work done.
Does the work flow, or does it rely on heroics?
Systems and data that hold it all together.
Do your systems help the business, or hold it back?
We start with a conversation, which is free and comes with no obligation. If it looks like I can help, I'll put together a short work plan with what we'd do, how long it would take, and what it would cost. You decide from there.
Yes, and many people do. A single project or a business review is a good way to see how we work together before committing to more.
It depends on what you need. After a first conversation I'll put together a work plan with a clear cost, sized to your business and your budget. No surprises.
I prefer long-term partnerships. Like a good employee, the better I know your business, the more useful I am. There's no time lost getting up to speed each time, so more of your budget goes on the work that matters. That said, plenty of work starts with a single project.
It depends on the stage. Getting to know the business usually means talking to people across it, because they often see things the owners don't. The big decisions about direction are made at the top, with you. And when it's time to put the plan into action, the wider team is usually involved, because they're the ones who'll make it happen.
Both. I'm based in Christchurch and like to be in the room for the big conversations, with regular check-ins online in between. I work with businesses across the South Island.
Your accountant knows your numbers. A coach works on you as a leader. I work on the business as a whole, and happily alongside both.
Every piece of work starts with a conversation and a plan built around your size, priorities and budget. You decide how much help you need, and you can change it as you go.
